MOORLAND ROAD COMMUNITY LIBRARY

Click on the opening hours menu above for more details.

Hello to all Moorland Road Community Library brilliant borrowers of brilliant books.

We are in a process of change and we hope you’ll be patient, especially with our volunteers.

The council has changed the computer system through which we check in and out books to you. It is also the system that holds your card and account details, the book catalogue and through which you can place reservations. You will be unable to use Librarieswest.org website or the app during the transition period.

The old system has been switched off today 22nd May 2024 and the new one goes live on Tuesday 4th June. Which means for 12 days or 8 library shifts there is no live computer system. The website and app for Librarieswest should be back on around 9th June.

Moorland Road Community Library will remain open for this period.

You can borrow our own stock yellow sticker books exactly as before.

You can still borrow council books from our library. We will do our very best to serve you as best we can, using a manual system of recording which books you have and what is returned.

I hope you will help support our volunteers through this time with your patience and consideration as they deal with your enquiries. They are also busy learning how to use the new system.

We are going to do our best to serve you through the interim period and beyond. Some issues may have to wait for the new system to go live before we can resolve them.

Thank you for continuing to use the library service at Moorland Road Community Library.

Here's a quick description of our normal service:

Our shelves are jammed packed with books from two collections:

  • LibrariesWest books are part of 7 counties local government libraries.

  •  Yellow Sticker Books belong just to our library.

You can come into the library and browse the shelves. Click and Collect reservations is also available for LibrariesWest books.

Drop the books back into the box or to the desk where our library volunteers will zap them back into the computer.

We look to the future with a positive hope to open for more hours as we head back to the service level offered before. We are actively seeking new volunteers to join our team and help to make this happen.

Overdue books: DON'T PANIC! we just want the books back. The Council will charge for books you have lost and there may be charges for bringing back books late if they have been borrowed from other counties.

Do please email us on moorlandroadcommunitylibrary@gmail.com with your questions or queries  and we will do what we can to help.
